We must know how to feed the hungry search engines if we’re trying to get ranked in them and get traffic from them. Search engines are like sharks and they need a lot of attention and feeding all the time, but they need feeding in a certain way.

What we’re going to be feeding them is obviously content in our blogs and websites. Search engines love content.

One of the first things we’ve got to do is to feed them regularly. Like sharks, they love to eat regularly and don’t just like to have one meal every month. They like to be fed little bits at a time on a regular basis and thus we’ve got to be putting content out there on a regular basis.

How often should we be updating content? Ideally we could do it once a day. We could do more than once a day if we’ve got the time and we’re able to do that. Once a week is really not enough especially at the beginning. We’ve got to be adding content on a regular basis to our blog. That’s how we’re going to get out there in the search engines.

Progressively people are going to start linking to us and coming back to our blog, and we’re going to start to build up this readership and then drive people off to our money sites. It’s not going to happen just by putting one piece of content up there every week.

The second thing is to make sure we keep the food fresh. We don’t want to be using stale mouldy food. It’s the same with content. When we’re putting content out there, keep it fresh, keep it new if we can, keep it unique and keep it up to date.

We don’t actually force-feed them. Don’t keep ramming food like hundreds and hundreds of meals down their throat every day. What this means is when it comes to content there are penalties in the search engines if we put up a lot of content on a daily basis.

The third thing is to make the food tasty. We should make our content tasty and whet their appetite. It is not just the flavour of content, not just the way that it reads. It’s got to be something that doesn’t send people to sleep, but it’s also got to have certain keywords in it and make certain keyword density in it. Generally when people go online to find something, a lot of people go to a search engine and type what they want into the search engine. If our website has content related to what they’ve typed in, we are in with a potential chance of turning up in the results of the search engine.

Blog Content Elements

What are the main content elements to actually create your blog? Basically, there are three main content elements, including posts (text and images), links and comments. A typical blog combines all of three.

1. Posts

The first type of content is posts, which are really the main bit of content. Posts are the content that you make. Just like your post on a forum, it means you make an entry. A blog post is just like a journal or a diary entry where you go in every day. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.

It is recommended that you make your blog more personal by putting your brand on there, your photo, your name or your pen name, making it real, including your humor and your personality, putting your stamp on it, and making it so that people can read a few posts or come back a few times through a week or month and start to feel that they’re getting to know you a little bit.

You need to be making posts regularly, ideally every day, but certainly every few days you’ve got to be adding new posts of content to your blog, because they’re always going to be there and they can always get found by the search engines.

2. Links

You’ve got two main types of links. One of them is on the navigation so that they appear at the top of a blog or down the side of a blog. They’re available all the time and you can see them at all places. You wouldn’t change them often. The second type of links is actually inside the main content or post that you’re making in the blog, being links to other blogs, websites or your products.


The third type of content on a blog is comments. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. It encourages interaction if you do a really good post or you ask a question in your post or ask people’s opinions.

People make a comment and then they’ll want to come back, visit again and see what other people are talking about or if their comment has been answered or replied to or whatever.

Professional Content

The second type of content is professional content. It means it is written in a professional manner, so-called the copywriting. The typical application in the internet marketing is the sales letters. You know the long sales letters with the testimonials and it takes five minutes to scroll down and 30 minutes to read – all that type of stuff.

It is defined in Wikipedia that copywriting is the process of writing words that promote a person, business, opinion or idea. It may be used as plain text, as a radio or television advertisement, or in a variety of other media. The main purpose of writing this marketing copy or promotional text is to persuade the listener or reader to act — to buy a product or subscribe to a certain viewpoint, for instance. Alternatively, copy might also be intended to dissuade a reader from a particular belief or action.

On websites, copywriting may also refer to the methods of writing and wording used to achieve higher rankings in search engines. Often referred to as content writing, it includes the strategic placement and repetition of keywords and keyword phrases on webpages. As search engine algorithms get smarter every day, this search engine optimization (SEO) copywriting is more and more about writing for human visitors as well as for search engines, about offering fluent and readable content written in an SEO-wise manner.

A good copywriter can transform boring text into catchy and informative text that can have an immediate impact on the bottom line. Unlike a technical writer whose work is intended to inform, a copywriter is striving to persuade. For example, a copywriter would write an ad designed to sell a big-screen TV, while a technical writer would write the operating manual to tell you how to use it.

When it comes to professional content, people are spending years of their life learning how to become a professional copywriter and write content that makes people want to buy. That’s why it’s professional. They know how to create a powerful, compelling sales message for your webpage so that you can start earning money fast.

You can actually train yourself and learn how to do this. However, there are not people out there who suddenly learn how to become a copywriter and make good money from words without learning from other people, but you can do it yourself as long as you’re taking material that’s proven already. If you’re using guidance, then you can create professional content. Also you can be personal in professional content. You can add personal touches, but it’s all part of a specific formula.

Personal Content

Two important types of content are emphasized in the Michael Cheney’s coaching program. They are Personal Content and Professional Content. In this post, we will focus on the first type of content – Personal Content.

What is personal content? As the name suggests, it is about you. It is written by you about you. Personal content is unique. It should be real story and experience about you. You do not need to have an amazing story. You do not need to have survived a skydiving incident, or whatever. It is just you; what is happened to you and what is brought you to where you are right now. It does not need to hide away from that. It has got to be about you and it has got to be written in your style; in your voice. It should be something that people would read. That is what makes you unique. It is what people are going to remember when they start seeing your name and your face all over the place. So get comfortable with being who you are as an internet marketer; be truthful; be open; be transparent.

That does not mean that personal content has got nothing to do with internet marketing. You can write internet marketing content and still keep it very personal.

How else can you make your content unique and make your whole message unique when you start getting into creating a lot of this stuff? You can start from your domain name registration. Go and buy your domain name, If you can not get then try to get or or, or something like that. Choose something that is very easy to remember. That is something else you can use to make sure you are keeping things personal. For you to separate yourself from everyone else and be a top internet marketer and start making big money, you can put your name out there, put your photo out there, and be yourself. Put it wherever you can on the Internet, and certainly with everything that you are doing, the effort you are creating. You do not need to do all that if you do not want to.

The time and energy that you invest into creating personal content is going to come back and pay you time and time again. If nothing else, be creating content every single day.

You can create a journal or a diary using your blog and just start making a regular post to it. There is no bad form of content. Anything that is words that have come out of your mind is great content. You will see people blogging about anything and everything, even on an Internet marketing blog.

Traffic comes from content. The more content you can put out in your websites or blogs, the more you’re going to be found in the search engines and the more people are going to visit your site and the more money you’re going to make.

Everything you are doing online can be content. The actual information on the Internet – the words, the images, the videos, the audio files – all of that stuff is content. Without content you are not going to get traffic. Without traffic you are not going to get sales.

When you are thinking about content you are got to have quality content. It is not just any old content. You have got to make sure you have got high frequency of content; you have got to make sure your content is consistent; you have got to make sure it is entertaining and you are got to make sure it is personal and it is real.

Please do not worry so much about the phrase on quality content. You can really create quality content pretty much out of nothing. You don’t need to be spending a lot of time or really trying hard to create content. It doesn’t need to be professional or anything like that. It is something that flows very easily once you know the right tactics. It just needs to be from you. Ultimately you’re going to have to find something that you enjoy, a method you enjoy, for creating content. It might be writing articles, it might be creating a video; it might be recording your voice. You’re going to have to find a way of doing that.

Types of content

1. Your story

Everybody has a story that is worth telling as to why you are actually on the Internet and why you are doing this; what you are on the internet and what you are doing; and how you are on the internet and how you are doing.

2. Review article

You can make a review on a book, an event, and anything you are interested in, but do not make the review article like ads.

3. Tutorial or how to

The step-by-step tutorial is a high demanding material on the internet. You can give them out as text information or video, audio format.

4. Tools and resources

What are the tools and resources you use? How do they help you to do your work? It might be very helpful to others.

5. list of tips

Any tips useful to you might be also beneficial to others. Just list them out. It is easy work.

6. Question and Answer

You can ask a question in your post or ask people’s opinions first and then give them an answer or recommendation. It encourages interaction.

7. Free gift

Give a brief introduction to your free gift.

A Blog – An Efficient Traffic Site

There are many different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content but also in the way that content is delivered or written. For internet marketing, we usually use blog to generate traffic and then send them to our money sites including product sites and affiliate sites.

Michael advised that ‘Don’t try to sell stuff from your blog. Never do that’. He would say never do that because it’s very difficult. A blog as a traffic site is not ideal to make money from directly because it doesn’t have that long copy of salesletter. Those long sales letters transform visitors to buyers. Your only job with that blog, with that traffic website, is to be a machine gun firing visitors over to your money websites. To begin with you just need one blog that you’re going to add a lot of content to on a regular basis that is going to get traffic and then send it to your money sites. (Of course, this principle is not applicable to the case where you just have a blog for both sale and traffic.)

A blog is a bit like a journal or a diary. You post content on there, ideally every day, and search engines love them because they’ve got a lot of fresh content, they’ve got a lot of unique content, and it’s updated regularly. Because of that you are going to get a lot of people linking to you, you’re going to get a lot of search engine traffic; you’re going to get a lot of visitors. When you do that, people are going to land on that traffic site – so it’s a traffic magnet.

Money Sites And Traffic Sites

You need two main types of websites to sell your information products effectively. They are money websites and traffic websites.

What is a money website? A money website is where a product is sold and its sole purpose is to make money rather than get traffic. The site has a long salesletter consisting of a big headline at the top, all of the benefits, the testimonials and then a ‘Buy Now’ button. It doesn’t have a lot of content on it that’s going to be regularly updated. It will get some traffic but it’s not going to get traffic on its own since you cannot optimize a money site and put keywords into it.

A traffic site is something that has a lot of content on it that’s regularly updated and its major purpose is to generate and send traffic. It gets traffic like a magnet but it also fires traffic like a gun at different locations. It could send traffic off to either your own money websites or affiliate sites so that you get a commission. The best traffic sites are going to be your blogs.

Money sites are not good at getting traffic and traffic sites are not good at making money, but when you bring the two together, hey, presto! The magic comes in. A comparison between money site and traffic site is given in the following table.

In the diagram, these are all people down there on the Internet. These are all visitors; they’re all there and they’re attracted to your traffic site and then you send it to other places. You don’t need to send it to just one money site. You can get traffic into your traffic site and there’s nothing stopping you from sending it to multiple money sites. Each would be selling different things, or you could send it to an affiliate site.

This is really important. You might think this is basic but this is super critical. You can basically flat-out lose Internet marketing unless you get this bit right. You’re going to have a traffic website, ideally at least one; one blog. As you progress at this, maybe months down the line you might want another blog. You might have a blog just all about traffic and you create blog content all about traffic. Then you send it to traffic products; traffic-related affiliate products, or your product about traffic.
